Marshall Bowl (Marshall, Minn.)
Supports Area Troops Sent to Iraq

For Bruce and Kris Shover, owners of Marshall Bowl, Marshall, Minn., it just seemed like a natural fit when they learned about BVL’s “Bowler’s Salute America’s Troops” carpet bowling program... That’s because Marshall, a small prairie town in Southwest Minnesota, had sent a National Guard battalion over to Iraq. Bruce and Kris wanted to show their support for the local troops and the BVL campaign was the perfect opportunity.

First, Bruce met with the Family Readiness program support group through the National Guard to tell them about the program.

Then, Marshall Bowl took a booth in commercial exhibit building at the County Fair where they displayed the carpet lane, pins and ball. Using the wrist bands supplied in the kit, Marshall Bowl exhibit workers accepted $5.00 donations for the wrist bands. They also asked contributors to sign the bag and send greetings on to the Marshall unit.

Bruce says the County Fair exhibit was a great success and visitors loved the idea of supporting their local unit. Now, the signed bag is on display at the bowling center for a brief period before they send it over to their unit – just in time for the bowling season!
